Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has ordered the International Internet Gateways (IIGs) to shut down 58 online news portals in the country.
The orders were given on Sunday (Dec 9) evening, Imdadul Hoque, General Secretary of Internet Service Providers Association Bangladesh (ISPAB) told Bangla Tribune.
“Initiatives to carry out the orders as soon as possible have been taken but quite a few portals which were supposed to be shut down are still active,” he said.
