Teletalk on top of illegal VoIP call termination

The state-run mobile operator, ‘Teletalk’ has ranked at the top of illegal call termination among the other companies of the country.

On Monday, Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has announced the information in a media briefing.

At the moment, around 416,666 hour calls are coming illegally to the country, said BTRC chairman Md Jahurul Haque at the briefing.

From Sept 9 till Sept 20, BTRC and RAB have jointly seized illegal VOIP equipment worth Tk 3.7 million and arrested eight persons, the press meet informed.

With the latest detection machines used by BTRC, illegal VOIP equipment can even be traced to a concealed drawer in a house or flat.

As many as 5,075 Teletalk SIMs, 3,897 Airtel and Robi, 1414 Grameenphone, 426 Banglalink, 120 Rankstel and 15 Banglalion SIM were seized during the BTRC raid.
