Bangladesh`s Mashrafe Mortaza bowls against West Indies in their match in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 at The County Ground, Taunton, on Monday, June 17, 2019, NASHIRUL ISLAMBangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza has been ruled out of Tiger's tour of Sri Lanka after hurting his hamstring on Friday (Jul 14), the third and last day of training before the team departs for Colombo.
A fast bowler, Mashrafe sustained the injury during the net session at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium in Dhaka, with Bangladesh set to depart for Sri Lanka on Saturday (Jul 20).

In absence of Mashrafe, one of the team's senior players openning batsman Tamim Iqbal will lead their side for the three-match ODI series, which begins on July 26 in Colombo.

"Mortaza injured his left hamstring during training today," BCB senior physician Dr Debashis Chowdhury said in a statement.

"It is a recurrent injury that could take around three to four weeks to recover from. Therefore, he is ruled out from participation in sporting activity for a month."

Earlier in the day, Mashrafe told the media in Mirpur that he was still undecided over when he will eventually call it a day.
The right-arm pacer said he still needs some time to come to a decision regarding his retirement.
He said, “I still can’t say anything right now. I haven’t thought about retirement yet. There is a lot of time before our next series (after Sri Lanka ODIs). I will think about it later. Retiring from the game is a big thing for me. So I will take some time before announcing anything.”
A lot of discussions are doing the rounds recently following the World Cup as to when Mashrafe will bring an end to his long and decorated, yet injury-plagued career.
Mashrafe alluded to former India captain MS Dhoni, who in recent times have been swamped with questions from the media regarding his retirement, according to media reports.
Mashrafe said, “Let me talk about Dhoni. I am not even close to him as a player. He has scored 10,000-odd runs in international career. In every press conference, he gets asked about his retirement. I think this should be handled professionally. I see it that way. My stance is always clear on this.”
He added, “As a player, I couldn’t give my best during the World Cup. As a captain also, I couldn’t fare well. Everyone expected us to reach the semi-final. We also failed to do that. Questions are bound to arise.”
