Shakib Al Hasan has been ruled out of the upcoming ODI series in New Zealand after sustaining a fracture on his left ring finger.

Shakib, the Dhaka Dynamites captain, sustained the injury while facing a short delivery by Thisara Perera in the final of the 6th edition of Bangladesh Premier League on Friday (Feb 9).

"An x-ray was done after the match and the results have confirmed a fracture on the left ring finger. The affected area will now have to be immobilised for around three weeks," BCB Senior Physician Dr Debashis Chowdhury said.

The three-ODI  against New Zealand begins in Napier on Feb 13, before moving to Christchurch for the second ODI on Feb 16 and to Dunedin for the final ODI on Feb 20.

The ODI series will be followed by three Test matches, the first in Hamilton from Feb 28.
