Watford`s Troy Deeney celebrates scoring their first goal against AFC Bournemouth on January 2, 2019 REUTERSWatford captain Troy Deeney has been charged for his comments about referee David Coote after his side's 3-3 draw with Bournemouth in the Premier League, the English Football Association (FA) said on Thursday.

Deeney had criticised Coote's performance in post-match interview with the BBC, saying the official had "bottled" a few decisions in a frantic contest at the Vitality Stadium earlier this month.

The striker had also accused Bournemouth's Dan Gosling of "trying to do" Tom Cleverley in a tackle.

Bournemouth recovered from a two-goal deficit and then levelled again in a six-goal thriller which also saw Deeney score twice for Watford.

Deeney has until 1800 GMT on Jan. 15 to respond to the charge.
