Leaders of 14-party coalition are addressing media after meeting at party headquarters in capital on Tuesday (Nov 19)A conspiracy has been undertaken to shoot the rice price through the roof after skyrocketing onion price, alleged Mohammad Nasim, the spokesperson of Awami League led 14-party alliance.
“BNP-Jamaat coalition is willing to do anything to create unrest in the country. A certain quarter and unscrupulous traders are on to make money by exploiting the people's demand," he said on Tuesday (Nov 19).
The senior Awami League leader's remarks came while addressing the media after a meeting of the coalition at the party headquarters.
“Taking the people hostage was never our political strategy as well as we don’t support it,” he said.
Nasim, a presidium member of the ruling party, proposed talks with transport workers and owners, who went on strike since Monday (Nov 18) protesting harsher punishments for traffic offences in the new road law.
“The new law aims to bring discipline on roads. We request citizens to cooperate with the authorities for implementing it.”
Criticizing the BNP's letter seeking details of recent deals with India, he said, “They have never raised the issue in parliament and now they are seeking details. However, memoranda of understanding have been signed with India, not agreements.”
