Combination of file photos shows Al Nahiyan Khan Joy and Lekhok Bhattacharya.Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) is thinking about discarding the controversial to evaluate the deprived. This is being done at the directive of Prime Minister and Awami League chief Sheikh Hasina, said the student body’s acting President Al Nahiyan Khan Joy and General Secretary Lekhok Bhattacharya.
Earlier, on May 15, Hasina, the organisational leader of BCL, ordered the controversial people to be removed from the Chhatra League central committee.
Infuriated at several complaints, she ordered the removal of Rezwanul Huq Shovon and Golam Rabbani as president and general secretary before nomination Joy and Lekhok as interim leaders.
“The PM has asked for the controversial people to be removed and we will work in that line; we expect support from the media and those who were deprived may also be given posts,” Lekhok said.
Those who were deprived of posts welcomed this move. Spokesperson for a ‘controversy free BCL movement’ Rakib Hossain, observed: “We want the Chhatra League to be free of controversy and will unite to take the body forward.”
Seeking the support of all, the acting BCL President Joy said: “Chhatra League is a massive body and we want to take it forward under the guidance of the PM.”
