The ruling Awami League claims that the council of BNP’s student front was postponed due to crisis within the leadership of the party.
It's General Secretary Obaidul Quader made the remarks on Saturday (Sept 14) while speaking to the media at a party event.
In response to allegations by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir that the council was postponed due to government interference, he said, “It has been suspended as some leaders [of the BNP’s student wing] moved the court. The government or Awami League is not responsible for it.”
He said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s achievements and the unprecedented progress of the country has ruffled the feathers of those who practice politics against the country.
Saying that the ruling party has a strict stance against the corrupt party members, he added, “Many ministers of the Awami League regime are having to make appearances at Anti Corruption Commission.”
He added that strict measures await those AL leaders against whom there are allegations of graft.
