After a power struggle within the leadership following founder HM Ershad's death, the Jatiya Party has announced that Raushan Ershad will be the Leader of the Opposition in parliament while GM Quader will head the party.
Secretary-General Mashiur Rahman Ranga made the official announcement on Sunday (Sept 8) during a media call at the party chiefs' Banani offices.
The candidate for Ershad’s Rangpur-3 seat will be decided in a meeting between the party chairman and secretary-general.
The consensus was reached in a meeting between the leaders of the two factions at Baridhara’s Cosmopolitan Club on Saturday (Sept 7).
