Claiming the relation between Bangladesh and India have reached a new height, Road Transport Minister Obaidul Quader hoped that the unsettled issues between two neighbours would be resolved during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s upcoming visit to Delhi.
“Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has invited PM Hasina to visit his country. I believe our [Bangladesh’s] relation with India will go one step further to resolve the unsettled issues between both countries,” he said while addressing a the inauguration of Janmastami procession in Dhaka on Friday (Aug 23).
Hindus in Bangladesh celebrated Janmashtami, the birth celebration of Sri Krishna and one of the major festivals of the Hindu community, on Friday.
Addressing the Hindu community, the minister said “The present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is minority community-friendly government.
“As long as this government is in power, minority communities don’t have to worry about their security,” said Quader, who is the general secretary of ruling Awami League, urging the Hindus to stand against the evil force of the communalism.
