BANGLA TRIBUNE/File PhotoJatiya Oikya Front Convener and Gano Forum chief Dr Kamal Hossain has expressed deep shock over the incident of a devastating fire that gutted hundreds of shanties at a large slum in Dhaka’s Mirpur Section 7 and left thousands homeless.
“I am deeply shocked. May the Almighty help you bear the pain,” Kamal consoled the fire-affected people while a Gano Forum delegation visited the fire-burnt slum on Saturday (Aug 17).
The delegation inspected the spot and spoke the slum dwellers.
People search for remains after a devastating fire guts hundreds of shanties at a large slum in Dhaka’s Mirpur Section 7 and leaves thousands homeless on Friday (Aug 16).“How many more times do we need to watch one fire incident after another? When will people have the right to live safely?” asked said Dr Kamal before urging the government and other social organisations to stand by the fire victims.
“Thousands of people are living in the open sky without food, cloth and sleep amid the [nationwide] dengue outbreak,” he said.
