Dengue fever to be tackled with collective efforts not rhetoric: Quader

Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul QuaderRoad Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has urged everyone to not resort to unnecessary rhetoric about the dengue situation and be more active in fighting it.
His call came on Friday (Aug 2), at the Awami League headquarters at Bangabandhu Avenue.
“The government is serious about the dengue situation,” he said and added that the mosquito-borne virus has spread throughout the country alarmingly.
“It’s the reality and there is no point denying it,” he said.
Quader who also serves as the ruling party general secretary, said that dengue has spread to 64 districts.
“So far 18,000-19,000 cases are being recorded everyday according to the media,” the minister said.
He added that the city corporations, local government ministry and health ministry were working together to fight the situation as per the prime minister’s order.
Reiterating Prime Minister and AL President Sheikh Hasina’s call, he said that the people need to put in combined effort to end the mosquito menace.
Responding to queries in the mosquito repellents used to destroy Aedes mosquitoes, he said that tests were being carried out and effective medicines will be brought in soon.
