Photo/SAZZAD HOSSAIN.Pro Raushon Ershad members of the Jatiya Party (JaPa) are not satisfied with the way GM Quader runs the party. Consequently, they gave a statement refusing to accept him as party chairman.
However, pro-Raushon members feel that if the party is run by taking opinion of everyone, then they will accept GM Quader’s leadership.
One member of the party said: “HM Ershad has died recently and most members are still in mourning and GM Quader has sidelined the period of bereavement to declare himself chairman of the party; this is tantamount to telling the grass roots that the party post is bigger than the period of mourning.”
By declaring himself chairman without convening party central committee meeting, he has insulted the party.
If he calls everyone and asks for their opinion, the problem will be solved; we do not want a division within the party.
JaPa presidium member Fakhrul Imam has said: “When Ershad was alive we had 10 to 12 councils and we gave him all the power; he appointed GM Quader the acting party chairman and we accepted it; but the process to become full chairman has to be as per the party’s organogram.”
Several party leaders have said: “GM Quader is not HM Ershad who was the party’s founding president. Party leaders often accepted his decision even if they did not approve of them. But such actions by GM Quader will not be accepted.”
Another party member has said that GM Quader was made to do this at the ill advice of another person.
Party presidium member Mir Abdus Sabur comments: “The party organogram clearly mentions how GM Quader can become party chairman; that has to be followed. If a central committee meeting is called after consultation with Raushon Ershad, a solution will come out.”
