There is no rift within the Jatiya Party following the death of its founder, claimed its newly-installed Chairman GM Quader.
“Ninety-nine percent members of the [policymaking body] Presidium are working together to implement the parties programmes. Joint leadership has made the party stronger and organised than ever. There’s no rift among us,” he told a media call at the party chief’s Banani offices.
The press conference was held following a joint meeting of the party’s Central Executive Committee. However, party’s Senior Co-Chairman Raushon Ershad and the presidium members, known to be as her followers, skipped the meeting.
“Ershad used to stand by the people during any and every natural calamity,” Quader said before adding that the party will open a flood control room at its headquarters in capital’s Kakrail.
The party will form teams to distribute aid for flood-hit people as well as will cooperate with the government’s relief efforts.
