The BNP has expressed its condolences at the death of former military dictator and Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad’s death.
“BNP expresses deep sorrow at the death of former military dictator and Jatiya Party Chairman Hussain Muhammad Ershad’s death,” Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said on Sunday (Jul 14).
In the statement, Fakhrul extended his condolences to Ershad’s family and well-wishers.
Former military strongman Ershad died at the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka at the age of 89 on Sunday (Jul 14).
He had been ill for the last eight months and also underwent treatment at Singapore’s Mount Elizabeth Hospital before the Dec 31 national polls.
The president, prime minister, speaker and ruling party leaders and lawmakers have mourned his demise.
