BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir speaking at a Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) program on Tuesday (Jul 9).The government has failed to create jobs for the educated youth of the country, said BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
“The youth of this country are not getting jobs, while Indian employees are coming here and taking away almost 10 billion dollars,” he said during a Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) program on Tuesday (Jul 9).
Claiming that the Awami League regime was turning Bangladesh into a dependent state, he added, “The rate of employment is going down.
“On one hand they talk of development and on the other, they don’t give jobs to the youth.”
He said that the incumbent government is in power through force and it has turned into a “puppet government.”
Fakhrul said that Bangladesh was going through a grave crisis, the secretary general said that development is possible only through democracy.
Slamming the prime minister for justifying the gas price hike, he said, “Of course we know development has a price. But who’s paying the price?”
He said that the price must be paid for the people’s development but the government was using the people’s money to serve the agendas of a few belonging to the ruling party.
The secretary general claimed that since the current regime isn’t an elected one, they do not care about hiking gas prices or taxes even though people’s income isn’t increasing.
Saying the judges now have to hand out verdicts as per the law ministry’s directions, he added, “In 1994, the then leader of opposition Sheikh Hasina was attacked but no one was killed.”
“We condemn violence of any kind but nine people have been given death, 25 life and 13 have been given 10-year jail terms in a case where there has been no killing.”
He reiterated that the people must stand united to take down the current government and defeat the party that has “destroyed democracy.”
