File PhotoAlleging the government of interfering in every aspect of the state, the BNP blames it for the delay in bail for its Chairperson Khaleda Zia, now in jail after being convicted in two graft cases.
“We demand her release as she has been jailed on false charges. Several leaders and supporters [of the Awami League] have been granted bail on similar charges. But that’s not the case for our leader,” Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said on Saturday (Jul 6).
His remarks came while addressing a human chain demonstration organised by the party’s Dhaka metro South unit.
Urging all political parties and the people to forge unity, the senior BNP leader said, “There’s no other option except for raising a mass movement to topple this administration, which had deprived the people from its rights.”
The law and order situation has seriously deteriorated, which is evident from the sharp rise in incidents of murder, rape and other crimes, said Mirza Fakhrul.
“They’ve created an anarchy situation across the country, the law and order has totally collapsed with now people being murdered in broad daylight,” he added.
Referring to media reports, the senior BNP leader said 12 people are killed every hour on average either by in road accident or other killing incidents.
