The ruling Awamil League has finalised its candidates for the July 30 elections to three city corporations.

Party sources said that former Rajshahi mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, former Sylhet mayor Badruddin Ahmed Kamran and Sadeque Abdullah, son of central AL leader Abul Hasnat Abdullah, of Barishal city have been picked by the nomination board.

The AL local government nomination board picked up its candidates at a meeting at Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s official residence Ganabhaban on Friday with Hasina in the chair.

Besides, the board picked up MA Matin for the Kurigram-3 constituency by-polls.

Addressing the meeting, Hasina, who is the president of ruling AL, directed the party leaders and activists to follow the central orders and work together to bring victory for the party candidates, sources told Bangla Tribune.

Election to Rajshahi, Barishal and Sylhet city corporations is scheduled to be held on Jul 30 while the last date to submit nomination is Jun 28 and nomination withdrawal on Jul 9.
