BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam AlamgirThe government does want the BNP in the upcoming national election rather they want to hold the polls with others small parties, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said.
As a democratic party BNP definitely wants the polls be held but it has to be a “real election”, the senior BNP leader said.
Speaking at a discussion in the city on Thursday, Mirza Fakhrul, “You (the ruling Awami League) will be in power and ride choppers to garner support whereas you won’t allow (political) rivals to speak and send them to jail.
“This can’t go on. A level-playing field has to be ensured,” he said.
Reiterating the calls for a ‘neutral polls-time administration’, the senior BNP leader said, “The parliament must be dissolved, but before everyting Khaleda Zia must be released.”
Calling the party activists to get in touch with the people, Mirza Fakhrul said, “I always believe in one thing ‘When there is crisis go to the people, learn from them’.”
“We (BNP) have decided to run countrywide campaigns”, he added.
