Awami League will sit tomorrow (Friday) to finalise mayor candidates for Rajshahi, Barishal and Sylhet cities.
AL Presdient Sheikh Hasina will preside over the nomination committee Friday when it will also finalise candidate for Kurigram-3 by-election.
Rajshahi, Barishal and Sylhet City Corporations polls will be held on July 30 while the by-election is scheduled to be held on July 25.
The Election Commission has fixed Jun 28 to submit nomination papers for the three city corporations while for Kurigram by-election the date is fixed at Jun 24.
Interested candidates can collect nomination forms from the party office by 5pm.
AL party office sources said, so far, former Rajshahi mayor Khairuzzaman Liton, former Sylhet mayor Badaruddin Kamran and other other candidates have already collected nomination forms.
General Secretary and Road, Transport and Bridge Minister Obaidul Quader Thursday through a statement requested the members of the nomination board to participate in the meeting.
