Jatiya Oikya Front Convener and Gano Forum chief Kamal Hossain speaks to media at the party headquarters in the city’s Motijheel on Wednesday (Jan 30).Gano Forum chief and Jatiya Oikya Front convener Dr Kamal Hossain has called for strong movements in order to restore democracy.

“We must bring the results of the movement by December,” he said on Thursday (Jun 6) while exchanging Eid greetings with his party leaders at his Bailey Road residence.

“What sort of movements will be waged depends on the government’s attitude,” he added.

Opposition alliance Jatiya Oikya Front has been demanding fair elections under an impartial government claiming that the Dec 30 national polls were rigged.

They had boycotted the polls saying that eight of their winning candidates won’t be going to Parliament.

However, the seven Oikya Front leaders, five from BNP and two from Gano Forum were sworn in while BNP Secreatry General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir remained the only one to not take oath.

Dr Kamal said that the government “fears election” and the people must stand up against them to ensure fair polls.

“The people are unites but they must be guided in the right path,” he said.
