Gano Forum chief Dr Kamal Hossain, who leads an opposition coalition with the BNP, has demanded the release of BNP chief Khaleda Zia and other political prisoners before the Eid-ul-Fitr.
In a message send to the media on Sunday (May 2), Kamal and his party’s General Secretary Reza Kibria said, “We demand that former prime minister Khaleda Zia and all other political prisoners be freed before the Eid.”
The Gano Forum leaders also urged the government to drop all the ‘false’ charges against opposition supporter and stop repression by police so that they can celebrate Eid with their families.
Greeted the people on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, they said, “The people of all communities in the country enjoy the eid with their limited ability. This is our tradition and it’ll remain in the future as well/”.
Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the biggest religious festivals of the Muslims, will be celebrated in the country either on Jun 5 or 6 depending on moon sighting.
