Over 1,000 journos call for Khaleda’s release

The group of journalists, from various media outlets and bodies, expressed their concerns regarding the matter in a statement on Sunday (May 26).
“We are deeply concerned over Kaheda’s health. Her health has deteriorated extremely and she can’t even eat normally,” said the statement.
“An ailing Kahleda was taken to jail over a year ago. Later, her illness increased due to negligence in treatment,” its reads.
They said the charges brought her against Zia Orphanage Trust were baseless and politically motivated, and the fund in question remains deposited in banks.
Journalists including Riaz Uddin Ahmed, Alamgir Mohiuddin, Shawkat Mahmud, Ruhul Amin Gazi, Dr Rezwan Siddiqui, poet Al Mujahidi, Salahuddin Mohammad Babar, Kamal Uddin Sabuj, MA Aziz, poet Abdul Hai Shikder, Syed Abdal Ahmed, Jahangir Alam Pradhan, Sakhawat Hossain Badshah, and Abdul Awal Thakur, were among the signatories in the statement.
