Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said he hopes that disputes between Bangladesh and India will be resolved under the renewed leadership of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi whose party won a massive victory in the Indian elections.
His remarks came on Friday (May 24) while speaking to the media at the AL chief’s Dhanmondi offices.
“We were able to resolve many issues between the two countries the last time Modi was in office,” he said.
He added that the Modi government had contributed to resolving the long-standing border issues between the two countries.
“This time Narendra Modi has gained even more faith from his countrymen. We hope that he will continue to work towards solving disputes; including that of Teesta water sharing,”
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi scored a dramatic election victory on Thursday, putting his Hindu nationalist party on course to increase its majority on a mandate of business-friendly policies and a tough stand on national security.
