Speaking about Mirza Fakhrul, who won from Bogura-6 in the parliamentary election, but didn’t take oath, Obaidul Quader, said: “The elected from BNP joined parliament with two members from Gono Forum and they joined to work as an opposition party and to trigger meaningful dialogues.”
Therefore, to act as a potent opposition force, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s joining was essential, he said.
His remarks came on Monday (May 20), at a meet while speaking to the media.
Others will raise issues now but from the point of political acumen, Mirza Fakhrul Islam would have been better, added Quader.
Acknowledging that a strident opposition voice is beneficial for the government, Quader observed: “If the ruling party makes a mistake then the opposition can point it out.”
