Rumeen Farhana gets BNP nomination for reserved women seat

BNP`s Assistant International affairs Secretary Barrister Rumeen FarhanaBarrister Rumeen Farhana, BNP’s international relations secretary, has got the party’s nomination for the reserved women seats in parliament.
The decision was made public on Monday (May 20).
“I was given a phone call and now am going to the election commission,” Rumeen told Bangla Tribune.
In the eleventh national election, Rumeen wanted nomination from Brahmanbaria-2 but the nomination was given to lawyer Abdus Sattar.
A close contender for the nomination was Nipun Roy Chowdhury, daughter in law of standing committee member, Gayeshwar Roy.
As BNP’s five winning candidates joined parliament, it will get one reserve seat. As per election commission schedule, Monday (May 20), is the last date for the submission of nomination form.
Late on Sunday (May 19), Rumeen was finalised by BNP senior leaders.
On May 15, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir went to Bangkok for treatment and is supposed to come back on Monday. But before leaving, he left his signature for the nomination of the women candidate for the reserved seat.
