'Post-deprived BCL faction' on hunger strike

Bangladesh Chhatra League's ''post-deprived faction'' started hunger strike at Dhaka University campus protesting fresh attacks on them in the early hours of Sunday (May 19). 

The agitated leaders have been staging hunger strike since 2am at Raju Memorial sculpture premises. Just after the attack  by followers of Golam Rabbani while they were attending a meeting with central committee.

Rakib Hosen, former planning secretary of BCL said: ''We were in a meeting with organisations president and the general secretary at TSC to solve the problem as per directions of the of Prime minister Sheikh Hasina. A group of followers of General Secretary Golam Rabbani attacked on us during the meeting.''

''We are demanding immediate action in such henious attack and will continue protest untill Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's decession,''  the agitating faction leader said.

Hours after the announcement, at least 50 leaders and activists who were unhappy with the new central committee,  joined a press briefing at Modhur Canteen on May 16. BCL leaders and activists attacked and foiled the press briefing, soon after it started.

The faction also unveiled the names of 99 leaders—including 17 accused by the party itself—of the Awami League student front who are considered to be “controversial”.

Later,  Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina directed the student wing’s leadership to exclude controversial leaders from its recently announced central committee.
