Bridges minister Obaidul Quader at Gabtoli bus terminal in Dhaka on Jun 13, 2018.BNP’s India tour was solely aimed at lodging complaint against the government, says, bridges minister, Obaidul Quader.
Media did not carry any news of the BNP holding talks on upcoming elections of issues of national interest, he added.
The minister made the observations while inspecting the conditions of homebound Eid journey at Dhaka’s Gabtoli bus terminal on Wednesday.
The party (BNP) is doing the same with foreign missions here, which dents its political image, he added.
Quader underlined that ruling party members went to India to discuss issues related to Teesta water sharing and Rohingya crisis, stating emphatically: “there’s no space for overseas forces to intervene in our politics.”
Commenting on BNP’s standing complaint that India is an AL ally, the minister questioned back using past facts as rationale: if India is only a friend of AL then why did we lose the election in 2001 and why did AL fail to come to power for 21 years?
Referring to the issue of the treatment of jailed BNP chief, Khaleda Zia, the senior Awami League leader said that the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) is best in the country and she shouldn’t refuse the offer to go there.
