“I on behalf of Gano Forum want to say unequivocally that there are questions in people’s minds regarding the election.
“So, my first demand to the prime minister is to arrange such a general election immediately where all irrespective of political identities and views can cast their votes without fear,” he said in his maiden speech in parliament, reports UNB.
The Sylhet 2 lawmaker said now it was time for soul-searching as to why it had been possible to arrange an election like the Dec 30 one and who have how much liability for it.
Mokabbir also demanded formation of an investigation committee to trace missing BNP leader M Ilias Ali, who was the former Sylhet 2 MP.
About incarcerated BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, Mokabbir demanded taking measures for her proper treatment.
“Conscious people of the country got hurt as she (Khaleda) has not got proper treatment. I believe if measures are taken for her treatment, it will reflect generosity of Bangabandhu’s daughter (Sheikh Hasina),” he said.
Meanwhile, several ruling and opposition MPs on Wednesday demanded that the speaker should fix a day in the current session of parliament to discuss the brutal killing of Feni madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi, other social diseases, particularly militancy, child and sex abuse, and corruption.
Awami League MPs Mohammad Nasim, Tofail Ahmed and Moin Uddin Khan Badal, Workers Party MP Rashed Khan Menon, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal MP Hasanul Haq Inu, and main opposition Jatiya Party’s MP Md Rustum Ali Faraji, among others, placed the demand while speaking on point of order in the House.
