BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam AlamgirAwami League wants to reign over by establishing one-party rule in the country, says BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
“We protested during the regime of dictator Ayub Khan, waged movement for nine years during Ershad period, but never passed so much hard time. The situation was grave during the nine months of liberation war, but before that Pakistanis never killed people so openly that Awamil League is doing right now,” said Mirza.
He was speaking at the release of music CD ‘Ronodhoni’ produced by BNP Executive Committee member Masud Arun in the city Friday morning.
The ruling party has reached a point from where they fail to understand the hope and aspiration of the people, said Mirza adding, “Now the time has come to protest. It is the responsibility of the every conscience citizen to save the country from this grave situation.”
People now don’t feel comfortable in speaking freely even in their living room in fear that if anybody records the conversation, he said.
Expressed his disappointment on the judiciary system, he said, “The High Court granted bail for Khaleda Zia but, the Appellate Division played a trick and stayed it, which means she has to stay in jail for months.
“I don’t know whether I am guilty of contempt of court or not by saying this, but I don’t care as there is nothing to lose. Now the time has come to oppose, protest and prevent,” Mirza said.
