Mansur betrayed with the nation: Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir addressed a human chain demonestration at the capital on Mar 8 on the International Women`s DayBNP’s Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has accused Sultan Mohammad Mansur of betraying with the nation by taking oath to the parliament against his party Gano Forum and Jatiya Oikya Front’s decision.

“Sulnan Mansur wasn’t that big of a deal in the Oikya Front leadership. His swearing in will not hurt the alliance, “ Fakhrul said on Friday (Mar 8) before adding that his party the BNP is firm in their decision of not joining the House.

Hours after Mansur was sworn in as a lawmaker on Thursday (Mar 8), Sultan Muhammed Mansur Ahmed was expelled from the Gano Forum and opposition coalition Jatiya Oikya Front.

Addressing a human chain demonstration in front of the capitals National Press Club, the BNP Secretary General said, “Today’s women’s day has befallen upon us at a time when the women are among the most oppressed. The lady, who waged a movement for women’s awakening, who worked for women’s empowerment and contributed the most for women’s education has been kept behind bars on false charges.”

On the International Women’s Day, Fakhrul called on the government to free BNP chief Khaleda Zia, who is serving 17 year sentences for embezzling funds meant for the Zia Orphanage Trust and Zia Charitable Trust.
