BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir exiting the home minister's after a meeting about Khaleda Zia's health. The home minister has assured that incarcerated BNP chief Khaleda Zia will be provided with proper medical care, said the party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
“I believe that the home minister will keep his word,” he said on Tuesday (Mar 5).
His remarks came on after a BNP delegation comprising of the party’s senior leaders went to Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal’s office to discuss Khaleda’s health.
The BNP has been maintaining that the party chief who is serving time at the old jailhouse at Nazimuddin Road has not been receiving proper treatment.
They repeatedly claimed that the government was purposefully denying her bail and neglecting her treatment.
The party is also considering to propose the government to declare Khaleda’s Gulshan residence ‘Feroza’ as a sub-jail given that the legal battles to secure bail for her is apparently failing.
Khaleda, a three-time prime minister is now serving seven-year and 10-year terms for embezzling foreign donations made to Zia Charitable Trust and Zia Orphanage Trust.
