Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport Minister Obaidul Quader has been given the best treatment, renowned heart specialist Devi Prashad Shetty has observed.
“Devi Shetty said that Obaidul Quader has received the best treatment. The outcome will be good if this treatment continues,” said former health minister Dr Ruhul Hoque.
However, the renowned cardiologist made no comments about flying Quader abroad, he added.
Quader was rushed to BSSMMU on Sunday (Mar 3) after he was having trouble breathing.
Later, doctors identified three blockages in his coronary artery through an angiogram and opened one.
At Sunday evening, a team of Doctors were flown in from Singapore to assess Quader’s condition, while an air ambulance were kept on standby to shift the ailing minister to Singapore should the BSSMMU doctors sign off on it.
Earlier on Sunday, BSMMU Vice Chancellor Kanak Kanti Barua briefed the media on Quader’s condition and said, “He blinked his eyes when Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was visiting him and opened his eyes when President Md Abdul Hamid was visiting.”
Elaborating on the initial course of treatment Barua said, “Quader is responding. He had an angiogram and a stent has been used to remove his heart blockage. Blood circulation through artery has resumed. He will take time to recover the repercussion injury.”
A 19-member medical board, which has been formed for the senior Awami League leader’s treatment, will update the media on his health later on Monday afternoon.
