Workers Party of Bangladesh President Rashed Khan Menon addressing an audience at National Press Club on Friday (Feb 22).A new Jamaat-e-Islami cannot be formed in the name of reform, said Workers Party of Bangladesh President Rashed Khan Menon.
“It’s not enough to accept the Liberation War or seek apology for standing against it,” he said on Friday (Feb 22) while addressing an audience at National Press Club.
“In the same way, they have to accept the liberal and democratic spirit of the war,” he added.
Menon said that it would be “Deceitful and terrifying if in the name of reform, a new Jamaat forms.”
Regarding the recent calls on Jamaat by many of its own leaders to apologise for its role in 1971, he said, “It’s all well and good but it’s not enough.”
He added that all necessary steps must be taken to ban Jamaat and ensure that it doesn’t resurface.
