Kamal wants judicial probe into Chawkbazar fire

File PhotoJatiya Oikya Front Convener and Gano Forum President Dr Kamal Hossain has demanded a judicial probe opened into the fire at Old Dhaka’s Chawkbazar that killed at least 70 people and injured dozens late on Wednesday.
His call came in a statement sent to the media on Thursday.
Gano Forum General Secretary Mostafa Mohsin Montu expressed his sympathy to the bereaved family of the fire victims and demanded adequate compensation to them, it reads.
Former president and Bikalpadhara chief AQM Badruddaza Chowdhury expressed his condolences over the death caused by the Chawkbazar fire.
“I am gravely saddened and shocked,” said Chowdhury, who is the chief of Jukata Front, in a media statement.
Jamaat-e-Islmai chief Maqbul Ahmed called for a fair Jundiai probe into the fire and punishment to the people who are responsible.
Bangladesh Jamiyatul Ulama Chairman Maulana Farid Uddin Masud echoed Jamaat chief urging the government to announce separate zones, exclusively for storing chemical substances.
