Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader. FILE PHOTOJatiya Oikya Front, the alliance of opposition parties including the BNP, will not last, says Awami League’s (AL) Obaidul Quader.

“The coalition lacks ethics and ideals. Since its inception, it appeared to be a short-lived alliance given the way it was formed,” AL general secretary said on Friday (Jan 18) at the party chief’s Dhanmondi office.

Speaking on the increasing number of aspirants for the reserved parliament seats for women, he said that ruling party’s popularity and acceptance soared which encouraged more candidates.

Quader, however, said that they will give preference to leaders who have sacrificed for the party.

“Leaders who gave their very best during the election will get priority” he added.

Quader also said that the party President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will deliver some important messages on Saturday’s (Jan 19) ‘Victory Rally’, set to be held at the capital’s Suhrawardy Udyan.

“The party activists and leaders will be warned not to abuse power,” Quader said before adding that the prime minister will lay out future development plans in the rally.
