Obaidul Quader spoke with the media on Wednesday (Jan 9) at the Shimulia ferry landing point in Munshiganj during a brief stopover on his way to Gopalganj.

Nobody believes that the BNP and Jatiya Oikya Front have anything to do after facing defeat in their movement as well as in the election, says senior Awami League leader Obaidul Quader.

His remarks came on Wednesday (Jan 9) while speaking to the media at the Shimulia ferry landing point in Munshiganj during a brief stopover on his way to Gopalganj.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, accompanied by her cabinet colleagues, went to Tungipara to pay homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman marking the installation of her government for the third consecutive term.

“They failed to wage any movement for 10 minutes in the last 10 years. What will they do now? If they wage any movement politically, we’ll respond to it politically,” Quader, the road transport and bridges minister said.

Describing the Oikya Front programmes calling for fresh polls as its ‘internal matter’, the ruling party general secretary said, “They can announce any programmme in a legal way centering the election. There’s nothing to say. Action will be taken, if they carry out violence in the name of movement.”
