BNP’s manifesto in line with ‘Vision 2030’

With just two weeks left with the national election, the BNP is set to roll out its manifesto on Tuesday (Dec 18), which party leaders say is chalked out in line with that plan.
The electoral pledges will be unveiled in front of the media at the Lakeshore Hotel in Dhaka at 11am, BNP chief’s media wing member Shairul Kabir Khan told Bangla Tribune.

“The Vision 2030 announced by Khaleda Zia is the cornerstone of the manifesto,” said the party’s policymaking National Standing Committee member.
According to party insiders, the pledges emphasise on the youth focusing on issues like, reforms to quotas in public service, safer roads and VAT free education system. It may also include promises to introduce unemployment benefits.
They say that promises of overtime allowance for police, multi-storied buildings to save arable lands, start-up fund for entrepreneurs will be pledged as well as appointing ombudsperson to ensure transparency in administration.

MEHEDI HASAN“The manifesto has been prepared keeping in mind all the factors, including education, healthcare, independent judiciary and administration,” said Amir Khashru Mahmud Chowdhury, a National Standing Committee Member of the BNP.
According to people familiar with the matter, the BNP will pledge to continue the development projects initiated by the incumbent administration, but will unveil the corruptions related to it as well as make sure the perpetrators face justice.
The BNP manifesto is likely to promise to introduce a constitutional provision for a polls-time administration to ensure free and credible election.
