Hasan MahmudSlamming BNP for allegedly engaging in nomination trade, Awami League leader Dr Hasan Mahmud has claimed the party, if ends up in power, will sell out the country.

His comment came on Monday (Dec 10) during the inauguration of campaign for Bangabandhu Shishu Kishore Mela at the capitals National Shilpakala Academy.

“When the whole world is praising Bangladesh for its achievement, they are asking for votes under Oikya Front’s banner. It’s such a shame! Even I feel embarrassed as a politician,” said Awami League’s publicity secretary.

Alleging that the BNP resorted to selling nomination papers, Mahmud said, “They literally opened nomination trading hubs. Those who failed to secure nomination even after paying for it attacked and locked down their own party offices.”

Taking a swipe at senior BNP leaders, he said, “They should have stepped down after what transpired, if they have any sense of self-respect at all.”

He also said that the whole country has developed during Awami League administration.

“If you see closely and compare today’s reality with what was a decade ago, you will see, this is not the same Bangladesh, rather a changed one,” added Mahmood.
