BNP`s Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi. File PhotoThe deputy commissioners and returning officers are making dangerous plans for the upcoming polls, alleged BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
“They carry out meetings at Sheikh Hasina’s directives to nail down the finer details of how to rig the polls,” he told the media on Monday (Dec 10) at the party headquarters in Naya Paltan.
Citing reliable party sources, Rizvi said he has received intelligence that the deputy commissioners met with the Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNO) and gave them instructions to ensure the ruling Awami League’s win.
Saying that the administration and law enforcers have already mapped out a blueprint of farcical polls, he added, “Plans are being made to ensure that the candidates of this illegal government win.”
The senior politician added that the government has resorted to ‘media terrorism’ in desperation and fear of fall.
“Baseless accusations are being hurled at our leaders and continuous lies and propaganda are being spread about BNP.”
Criticizing AL’s Joint General Secretary Abdur Rahman’ comments that BNP’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir conducts secret meetings at the Pakistan Embassy, Rizvi said, “The Pakistan High Commission issued a media statement yesterday, protesting it.”
The press release read that the news was completely baseless and BNP did not meet with any Pakistani diplomat.
Rizvi alleged that the prime minister’s advisor Gowher Rizvi himself had spent a week in Pakistan and said that instead of spewing lies about BNP, the ‘Awami League affiliated media’ should publicize the secrets meetings of the ruling party carries as a favour to people.
