Singer Monir Khan has quit BNP after the party dropped him from the race for the 11th Parliamentary Election.
Khan, who is BNP’s central committee co-cultural affairs secretary, announced his resignation at a media briefing in the city on Sunday (Dec 9).
The singer was one of the BNP’s initial picks for the Dec 30 polls from the Jhenaidah-3 constituency.
BNP, however, shared the seat with its 20-party Alliance partner Jamaat-e-Islami dropping Khan.
Khan said, “In a wake of my fan’s demand, I will start my music and refrain myself from politics and.
“Having involved with politics for several years was an accident and a mistake of my life,” he said.
Claiming he has been left out from the polls race over different excuses, Khan said, “I resigned from all of my posts at BNP... I will never come back to the party.
“I will keep up with my personal and music, he said.
