Bangladesh Awami LeagueAwami League is confident of tackling rebellious candidates who submitted independent nomination papers. Already, most rebel candidates have been contacted from the central office and have been requested to withdraw their nominations by Dec 9. By Dec 8, final nominations will be made for seats where several people were given initial nomination.
Leading leader of the party, Joint General Secretary Abdur Rahman told Bangla Tribune, “We talked to rebel candidates and almost all of them agreed to withdraw their nomination papers.”
Not getting party nomination, deprived AL nomination seekers submitted nomination for 76 seats; of them, 29 were cancelled in assessment and the remaining 47 will eventually withdraw their nomination, say party insiders.
Those involved in persuading rebel candidates to withdraw nomination are: Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Ahmed Hossain Bahauddin Nasim, Misbahuddin Siraj, BM Mozammel Huq, Afzal Hossain, Abdus Sabur and others.
All the independent candidates were asked to come to Dhaka and party leaders have reportedly managed to convince them to withdraw their nominations for the greater benefit of the party.
