Anwar Hossain Khan, who serves as the senior vice-president of the ruling party’s Ramganj Upazila unit in the district, has collected the nomination form for Lakshmipur -1 on Sunday (Nov 18), Tarikat Chairman Najibul Bashar Maijbhandari told Bangla Tribune.
“Anyone can take nomination form from my party and that was the case of Anwar Hossain Khan. However, he has not joined my party,” he said.
Tarikat Federation is an ally of the ruling Awami League in the 14-party Alliance.
“There are two MPs from our party now. This time we sought some ten seats, but it’s up to Awami League President Sheikh Hasina. We will accept her decision. The matter of Anwar Hossain Khan will be decided by her,” the Tarikat chief said.

“The Awami League on Ramganj (Upazila of Lakshmipur) is united. I have worked for the local people for long and I hope the prime minister will consider it,” Khan told the media then.
Bangla Tribune reached to Khan on Sunday over the phone for a comment, when he said, “I am in a meeting now; will speak on this matter later.”
Tarikat Federation’s former secretary general MA Awal is now the MP from Lakshmipur -1.
“I will not comment on this matter,” he told Bangla Tribune before adding: “But our party chairman is trying so that we get to float candidates in more constituencies as an Awami League ally.”
