Leftist alliance manifesto will stress on safeguarding national assets

Left parties set to announce electoral allianceThe Left Democratic Alliance is preparing an electoral manifesto which will offer to safeguard national resources and reduce the unlimited power of members of the state or certain state-owned organisations, said several senior leaders of the alliance.
The LDA is a coalition of eight parties -- Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB), Socialist Party of Bangladesh or Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BaSaD), Biplobi Workers’ Party, BSD (Marxist), Gonosonghoti Andolon, United Communist League, Gonotantrik Biplobi Party and Somajtantrik Andolon.
The manifesto committee will have its first meeting on Nov 19.
A booklet and leaflet will be made on the manifesto. Leaders of the alliance say that the manifesto will pledge to scrap Digital Security Act, the culture of politically motivated arrests and harassment, malfeasance, economic mismanagement while taking steps to strengthen local government.
The leftist alliance will also make promises to save national assets like, gas and oil and revoke agreements that are contrary to the interest of the nation.
Coordinator of the alliance and member of the manifesto committee, Saiful Haque, told Bangla Tribune, “Suggestions to repeal agreements, like the one with Saudi Arabia plus the Sundarban deal with India will be made in the manifesto.”
Chief coordinator of the alliance Zonayed Saki said, “There will be an outline in the manifesto against autocracy.”
The honourable existence of working people will be stressed in the manifesto, he added.
