Jatiya Oikya Front would have contested the national polls regardless of the EC’s decision to defer it, commented Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader.
“We know that Oikya Front would participate in the polls whether it was rescheduled or not,” Quader told the media on Monady (Nov 12).
Welcoming the EC’s decision upon considering their demand, the senior ruling party leader said, “Awami League supports the decision of postponing the voting date by seven days. This is solely under the EC’ jurisdiction and Awami League can do nothing here,”
“The election commission has taken a positive decision to ensure participation of all parties, he said.
On Awami League’s nomination, Quader warned the aspirants that simply getting a party ticket won’t assure a win.
This is a wrong perception and those who are dwelling on it are making a grave mistake, he added.
