BNP may reconsider election participation: Mirza Fakhrul

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. FILE PHOTOIf proper environment for election is not created, then BNP will reconsider the decision to take part in the upcoming polls, said party secretary general, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

The veteran BNP leader made the comment on Monday after taking his own nomination for Thakurgaon-1 seat.

“There isn’t an environment for election at the moment.”

Calling participation at the national election a vital part of the movement, he said: “through this, we shall secure the release of Khaleda Zia and establish democracy in the country.”

At this time, other BNP big wigs, Mirza Abbas, Abdu Awal Mintu, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and Nazrul Islam Khan were present.
