Two people have been killed during a clash between two factions of Awami League (AL) at the capital’s Mohammadpur area.
The incident was reported on Saturday (Nov 10) as followers of ruling party leaders – Jahangin Kabir Nanak and Sadek Khan clashed in the Nobody Housing area.
The victims have been identified as Sujan, 18 and Arif, 20.
Sujan was killed after he was run over by a pickup during the conflict while the other victim was pronounced dead when taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Mohammadpur Police OC Jamal Uddin told Bangla Tribune, “Supporters of Jahangir Kabir Nanak and Sadek Khan were on their way to collect nomination papers from the party office when the clash broke out.”
When asked about the identities of the victims, Uddin said, Sujan was a civilian while it wasn’t immediately clear whether Arif belonged to any of the factions.
Jahangir Kabir Nanak and Sadek Khan are seeking nomination for the same constituency of Mohamammdpur.
