Oikya Front liaison panel formedThe new anti-government alliance Jatiya Oikya Front has formed a liaison committee after its second meeting at the BNP chief’s Gulshan offices on Wednesday.
However, the member of the panel are yet to be finalised for what the leaders said as more parties will join the new coalition.
On Saturday (Oct 13), the BNP, Gano Forum chief Dr Kamal Hossain-led Jatiya Oikya Prokriya, Mahmudur Rahman Manna’s Naogorik Oikya and ASM Adbur Rab’s Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) launched the new alliance.
It first meeting was held on Tuesday at Rab’s residence in the city’s Uttara.
The second meeting on Wednesday also decided to hold rallies in two divisional cities.
“Apart from forming the liaison committee, we have scheduled rallies for Oct 27 and 30 in Chattogram and Rajshahi,” senior BNP leader Khondokar Mosharraf Hossain told the media.
The new coalition will brief Dhaka-based diplomats on its demands and goals on Thursday, he said.
“Our programmes will be launched on Oct 23 from Sylhet, when the leaders will offer prayers at the shrines of Shahjalal, Shah Paran,” said Hossain, a member of the BNP’s policymaking National Standing Committee.
Nagorik Oikya’s Manna, Gano Forum’s Subrata Kumar Chowdhury, JSD’s Abdul Malek Ratan also attended the media briefing.
