BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. The statement of Mirza Fakhrul Islam that BNP had to face losses due to allies of the 20 party alliance has rankled many.
At the 20 party meet, held on 15 October, held at the BNP chairperson’s office in Gulshan, many have expressed their displeasure at Fakhrul’s comment.
“BNP had to face many setbacks for the allies in the pact; cases against us have also risen, but even then we did not leave the alliance,” said Mirza Fakhrul, secretary general of BNP.
Speaking during the meet, two leaders of the alliance said: “we also faced many complications due to misguided decisions by BNP, we have done our part in maintaining unity in the alliance.”
Jamaat leader, Abdul Halim, present at the meet, said: “we give out blessings to the Oikko Prokriy, and do not want our exclusion to prevent the united platform.”
We wish the Oikko Prokriya success, he added.
Meanwhile, on 14 October, BNP standing committee member Mirza Abbas, Goyeshor Chandra Roy and Nazrul Islam Khan went to meet Liberal Democratic Party, LDP, leader, Col (retd) Oli Ahmed.
It’s found that secretary general of one party in the 20 party alliance asked BNP secretary general about the inclusion of barrister Mainul Hossain, in the Jatiya Oikkofront.
To his query, Mirza Fakhrul, said: “I don’t want to talk about this anymore; we want to re-establish democracy in the country and welcome anyone who wishes to join us.”
After the meet, BJP chairman, Andaleeb Rahman Partho, told Bangla Tribune: “we have asked BNP to move forward with Jatiya Oikkofront and the 20 party alliance is with them.”
