Obaidul Quader. FILE PHOTOAwami League leader Obaildul Quader has said there is no necessity to form a polls-time administration by dissolving the parliaments describing the demands of Jukto Front and National Unity ‘unconstitutional’.
Quader also termed the alliance’s demands on restructuring Election Commission ahead of the general election and deployment of army with magistracy power during the polls ‘unnecessary’.
“Election will be held as per the Constitutions, there is no scope to violate it,” the AL secretary general said on Sunday (Sept 16).
Speaking at a party event in Dhaka, Quader said, “The last session of Parliament will end before Oct 20 and there will be no more session till the election.”
“The House will remain ineffective and the MPs will have no power to formulate laws,” said the road transports minister.
On troops for the polls, Quader said, “If the situations demand and the EC wants then the government will consider whether to deploy army or not.”
There’s no time for restructuring the Election Commission, he said before adding: “Besides, the EC is working independently.”
